How do you work out practical test pass rates?
There are two ways to work out pass rates; either how many PUPILS passed their test, or how many of the TESTS TAKEN were passed.
The DSA work on the number of TESTS TAKEN – so do I.
So pass rates are always a contentious subject with Driving Instructors. Their adverts say things like “High pass rate” or “Excellent pass rate” or “Best pass rate in the area” - notice how vague this all sounds.
Ever thought why they never print their actual pass rate figures?
The D.S.A. national pass rate is around 43%, (Worthing is 42.94%).
So why am I brave enough to print my pass rate figures? In previous years, my pass rate has always been above 43% and in 2007, it was my best year.

And if my pass rates are above average, some other Instructors have to have a pass rate below the average – would you learn with them?
